About 196 companies have made about 822 offers to students of Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee during the institute’s placement season. Hirers have looked for diverse profiles – from those of software engineers to geologists and geophysicists. When it came to core and non-core offers, 288 offers were made in the former category and 534 in non-core. Among the lead recruiting sectors were information technology (IT), analytics, and consulting. These were followed by core, R&D and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) segments.

The profiles selected included those of analyst, applications engineer, geologist, geophysicist, member of technical staff, associate applications developer, management trainee, assistant technical, scientist, graduate trainee engineer, platform engineer, GET, MT, PGET, software engineer, officer/engineer, senior software engineer, member technical, software developer engineer, business analyst, analog engineer, digital engineer, software engineer, and young technical leader.
WHO ALL CAME FOR PLACEMENTS
Companies like Goldman Sachs, Tower Research, Uber, Samsung, Maruti, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Bajaj Auto, Hero, Mahindra & Mahindra, Directi, Walmart, Societe Generale, Texas Instruments, Intel, Oxane Partners, Accenture, ITC Ltd., Schlumberger, ONGC, ISRO, IOCL, C-DOT, DE Shaw, L&T, JP. Morgan, Flipkart, Qualcomn, Oracle, Bain, Citicorp Services India Pvt. Ltd, among others, have made the offers, a release from the institute said.
INTERNATIONAL COMPANIES ON THE HUNT
The Institute has so far received 13 international offers from renowned companies like Microsoft, WebStaff and Mercari.
START-UPS ALSO TRY HAND
This year, 34 start-ups have registered for placements. IIT Roorkee also saw participation from PSUs namely: ONGC, ISRO, IOCL and C-DOT.
